Seven-year-old Cameron Mullaney
of San Diego, California, hosted a
birthday party with a difference.
Cameron loves sea turtles so much, he asked his birthday party guests for donations to the Sea Turtle Restoration Project instead of presents. Cameron, who celebrated his birthday on July 17th, raised $465 at his party. Cameron is very happy to now be a ‘daddy’ to some sea turtles.
We appreciate Cameron’s efforts and his guests’ generosity. Their donations will be put to good use in our work to save endangered sea turtles in US waters and around the world.
Children care deeply about wildlife, and are often the catalysts in getting grownups to take action. Cameron’s example shows how even our youngest sea turtle supporters can make a difference. Through his gesture he has also spread the word about endangered sea turtles among his friends and their families. Who knows how far these ripples of inspiration will reach?
Cameron’s not the only young friend of sea turtles making a difference. Mia Lynn Poley celebrated her 6th birthday in March with an “Under the Sea” party with her friends from Chrismont Montessori Academy in Belmar, New Jersey and collected $50 for STRP.
Cameron and Mia – on behalf of the sea turtles, thank you!
