Today The Wilderness Society of Western Australia leaked to the press a copy of the state government's biased and environmentally irresponsible "Strategic Assessment" giving the green light to building a massive new Liquid Natural Gas plant on the unspoiled Kimberley coast. See the article in the West Australian newspaper.
The SA, similar to an Environmental Impact Report in the U.S., appears to ignore that the coastline and adjacent waters are critical for the survival of sea turtles, humpback whales, rare snubfin dolphins and fisheries, not to mention tourism and sacred lands.
Turtle Island Restoration Network is committed to helping Australian activists defeat this debacle by raising international awareness and opposition now! Soon we will be delivering a statement of global concern to the community of Broome at Ground Zero of the Gas Hub Battle from more than two dozen U.S. conservation groups.
Please take the time to read the Citizens Guide to the Strategic Assessment now posted at The Wilderness Society website. Watch for more news and ways to help very soon!
