Kemp's ridleys in the news!

Austin's public radio station KUT reports on the new Kemp's ridley recovery plan

SAVING TORTUGAS IN THE U.S. AND MEXICO

See the KUT radio webstory and listen to the interview here.

Kemp's ridleys that nest and swim along the Texas and Mexico Coasts and throughout the Gulf of Mexico are in the early stages of recovery as a result of decades of work to achieve strong protections. The no-shrimping zone along the Texas coast that STRP and HEART achieved 10 years ago was critical to the increase of nests there. Turtle Excluder Devices that allow turtles to escape shrimp nets is also vital to their continued population growth. Read more about the Kemp's ridley.
